RELAY is made by tiny objects. This policy explains exactly what the app stores, what it does not, and what you can do about it. It is short because the app collects very little by design: RELAY is a chat where conversations are meant to disappear.
An anonymous account identifier. You sign in with Apple. We request no personal information from Apple — not your name, not your email. What we receive and store is an opaque identifier that lets us recognise your account on your next visit. It is not linked to any personal detail on our side.
The nickname you choose. This is the only piece of information you give us, and it is public to other people in the conversations you join. You can change it at any time in the app's settings.
Messages, briefly. A message you send is stored so it can be delivered. Each conversation keeps only its 40 most recent messages; everything older is permanently deleted from our servers, automatically, without anyone asking. This is the entire point of the app, not a feature we added afterwards.
Which conversations you belong to. So the app can show you your channels and direct messages, and so other members can see who is in a channel.
Reports you submit. If you report a message or a person, that report is kept — including who sent it and what it refers to. This is the one deliberate exception to the app's forgetfulness: moderation is not possible without a record. We keep reports for as long as we need them to keep the app safe.
Technical data our provider processes. Our servers run on Google Firebase. In the ordinary course of delivering the service, Firebase processes your device's IP address, connection timestamps, and a device attestation token from Apple used to verify that requests come from a genuine copy of the app. This protects the service from abuse. We do not use this data to identify or track you.
We do not run advertising. We do not use analytics. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not build a profile of you. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for their own purposes. We do not read your private conversations, and in any case they are gone within the space of a conversation window.
Themes, wallpapers, and BOOM.EXE are one-time purchases handled entirely by Apple. Your payment details never reach us — we only learn whether a purchase was made, so the app can unlock what you paid for.
Google Firebase stores the data described above and runs our server code, acting on our instructions. Data is stored on servers in Belgium (europe-west1).
Apple handles your sign-in and any purchases.
Neither is permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
You can delete your account from within the app, in Settings. When you do, we remove your profile, release your nickname so someone else can use it, delete your direct message conversations, and remove you from every channel. Channels left with no members are deleted entirely. This is immediate and cannot be undone.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to how we use it. Given how little we store and that the app can delete all of it for you, most of these are a single tap away — but you are welcome to write to us instead, and you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
RELAY is not intended for children. Because people can write to each other freely, we do not consider it suitable for anyone under the age rating shown on the App Store listing.
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, if the change is significant, tell you inside the app.
